Once bought, the silver dollar must be hidden from the view of others. Keep it wrapped in white paper.

On a Wednesday, at 12:01 AM (one minute after midnite), making sure you cannot be seen by any human eye, heat the silver dollar until it glows red hot. Placing the coin on a bed of charcoal and blowing over it was the traditional method; however the safest way to do this in modern days is to use a propane torch. Place the silver dollar on a bed of salt at least 1 inch deep in a small fireproof ceramic or glass bowl, then focus the flame of the torch onto the coin until it glows red hot.

It's very important that you actually see the coin glowing red, so keep the lights low so that the magical color of glowing metal can be clearly seen.

Once you have clearly seen the red glow, let the coin grow cold without touching it further.

Patterns of color will form on the coin. This is the sign that the LUCK has attached to the coin. If there is no color, or if the color does not form an auspicious pattern, wrap the coin in white paper and try again in 3 weeks.

If the coin has color, wrap it in a crisp new bill, fasten the bill in place with string or a rubber band, and keep the wrapped coin in your pocket.

Avoid letting anyone see the wrapped bill, and if anyone sees the coin itself, after it has been charged, the coin must be put away for 3 weeks and heated to glowing in order top restore it's potency.
